Lip Fillers or Lip Flip?

Traditionally, lip fillers like Juvedern, Restylane, and Belotero are used to enhance the shape and fullness of lips. These fillers can be used for a variety of purposes, such as restoring volume loss which occurs with age. Another alternative in order to enhance lips is a lip flip. The lip flip is a completely different procedure and uses a neuromodulator rather than filler to achieve results. The ways in which Botox is used to achieve results is by injecting Botox into the muscles surrounding the mouth, relaxing them enough so that the lips are capable of flipping outwards. Whereas lip filler adds volume, injecting Botox by the cupid’s bow and lip line paralyzes the surrounding muscles. Subsequentially, the injected Botox gives the appearance of fuller lips. Both lip filler and a lip flip by Botox can treat a gummy smile. Depending on what type of look you’re going for, one procedure might be more beneficial than the other. For instance, if you are trying to achieve a more dramatic transformation, lip filler might be the right route. However, if you are aiming for a more natural look, lip flip achieved through Botox would be a better option.

The cost of lip flips varies. A Botox lip flip can cost around $200, which is considerably less expensive than lip filler, which tends to cost around $800. However, the price can vary depending on how many units of Botox and filler one gets. Not only do the costs between the two procedures varies, but also how long they last as well. On one hand, Botox can last only around 3 months whereas filler can last from 6 to 18 months. In conclusion, when deciding between lip filler and a lip flip achieved through Botox injections, ask yourself what you really want your lips to look like and how much additional volume you’re aiming for.
